Open lecture: Ricardo Hausmann

The Young Economists Society of Uzbekistan and New Uzbekistan University are pleased to welcome Professor Ricardo Hausmann, one of the world’s leading voices in economic development, for an open lecture on how countries build productive capabilities, diversify their economies, and create new sources of growth.Ricardo Hausmann is the Founder and Director of the Harvard Growth Lab and the Rafik Hariri Professor of the Practice of International Political Economy at Harvard Kennedy School.Professor Hausmann is widely recognized for advising governments on economic transformation, industrial policy, and sustainable growth. He previously served as Director of the Center for International Development at Harvard Kennedy School.He is best known for his pioneering work on Economic Complexity, Growth Diagnostics, and the Product Space-ideas that have shaped how economists and policymakers understand diversification and long-term development.The lecture will explore why some economies move into more sophisticated industries, how countries identify new areas of opportunity, and what shapes their future growth potential, followed by a moderated Q&A session with Professor Hausmann.Date: July 30th Time: 2 p.m.Venue: New Uzbekistan UniversityDue to limited capacity, attendance is by confirmation only.
